These are a few of our favorite places. We thought you might like to check these businesses out too! Enjoy!
Sensory and accessory overload aside, this place has everything to match your every accessory desire. Gahhh! Affordable and yet I find myself piling up the counter with cute finds that add up quick. Still, they have everything!
Jessica loves the beautiful nail design, friendly technicians, and the relaxing atmosphere. This is a great place to visit a day or two before your portrait session to pretty up your hands.
Two of my clients recommended Nahid A. for her awesome highlight and color services. She is super sweet and does impeccable work too.
While I am admittedly a failed seamstress, I do love fabric and I find myself wandering the aisles of Joann’s for the perfect fabric to use for different portrait sessions, whether it be maternity, glamour, or child sessions. The associates are always friendly and it helps to bring your coupon. I frequent the Sterling shop on Rt. 7
I don’t know a photographer or savvy fashionista who doesn’t like Marshalls (emphasis on the “shall”) and TJ Maxx. I love these shops for the awesome deals on accessories (scarves, eyewear, jewelry, hats, gloves), designer dresses and trendy fashions, and the affordable and stylish home furnishings. A little known fact about me: My first “real” job, as a high schooler, was as a sales associate at Marshalls. I’m pretty sure I spent my entire paycheck each week on clothes, 😉
We love this international chain with a product line that is top quality. The Dulles Town Center location is stock full of gorgeous dresses, accessories and casual wear for children. Great place to shop for babies, toddlers and preschool aged children.
Whenever I get a chance, I head out to On a Whim to find shabby chic, feminine decor for my home and studio. I love the store owner, Donna, and her super sweet grandchildren who run the shop with her. Fabulous customer service, beautiful home furnishings, antiques, vintage odds and ends, and sweet decor ideas throughout. I just love this place.
Jessica Jin at the Dulles Town Center is an awesome accessory stylist for hair, jewelry and more!
One of my closest friends Felecia sees Roxanne for stunning and cutting edge color and cuts. Roxanne also offers eyelash services that will leave them fuller and super glam.
Virginia native Derek Cha started the Sweet Frog chain in 2009 and now has over 320 stores open in the U.S. and abroad. And it so no wonder! The shops are bright, family friendly and has every topping you could possibly imagine putting on every flavor of frozen yogurt. We love to pop in over here for an afternoon break or as a reward at the end of a long week.
We love heading out to this hip, vintage home store in the village of Lucketts. Self described as “a destination for treasure hunters and style fanatics alike,” this shop offers neat vintage furnishings, art, pillows and just about anything you could think to spruce up your home or studio. Each month, the Old Lucketts Store hosts a Design house that features a different interior designer in each room of an old farmhouse just a few steps from the store. I’ve even found cute hats, jewelry, cowboy boots, and eyewear in this shop.
Mindy Fries does incredible work for Tica and for Bobbie Brown. She specializes in makeup for bridal, glamour, and professional head shots.
